THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Thank you to everyone who supported our Community Coffee Morning last Saturday (September 2).
We've sent £93 to the Pilgrims Hospice charity as the result of the raffle.
We sold £50-worth of calendars and covered our costs with plenty to spare. Our 1917 World War One display was also well received by visitors.
Now we're praying for  good weather for out next event - the Heritage Walk around the west side of the village on Sunday (September 10). Please meet at The Street car park for 2pm. Children under 16 should be accompanied. No dogs please.

Many images come from our own substantial archives.. Thank you also to members of our local community for letting us use their photos.
The calendar costs £5 and is available from village shops and from the Heritage Centre. If you'd like to order one by post, please phone 01304 812121.

TREASURES OF THE HERITAGE CENTRE

We'll be holding our Autumn Talk on Thursday, October 5.
Our topic is Treasures of our Heritage Centre. This will be a short talk on the beginnings of Ash Parish Council, followed by demonstrations of the archives, photos, visual and oral history that we hold.
The talk will be held in the Village Hall. It starts at 7.30pm, and entry costs £3.
We hope it will be a 'hands-on' event.
For more details, please see the parish magazine.

SUNDAY HERITAGE WALK

On Sunday September 10, we'll be holding a Heritage walk around the western part of the village.
It starts at 2pm from the car park in The Street, and will finish around 4pm. We'll be looking at our local history, recent and old.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs please.

HERITAGE GROUP COFFEE MORNING

The Heritage Group is hosting a community coffee morning on Saturday, September 2. It's in the Village Hall from 10a.m. to 12noon.
The committee will organise the event. But, if you are willing to make some cake (preferably easy to cut or single small cakes), or provide a raffle prize, please let Ann Foat know. (phone:812121)
Best of all, please come and enjoy the company and have a peep at the Centre. We'll be remembering 1917 in a small display in the hall and we're aiming to publicise the Heritage Centre.
So please tell anyone you know who may be interested to come along - especially newcomers, younger people and families who may not realise how much heritage we hold!

WINGHAM BARTON MANOR VISIT

Our visit to Wingham Barton Manor has been arranged for 2p.m. on Thursday June 22.
However, parking may be difficult , Ann Foat is currently trying to ask permission for us to park on Hulme’s entrances opposite and just down the road at the corner.
She says: "I will let those of you who are coming know the outcome." She adds: "There are still a few spaces if anyone else wishes to come and has not yet told me."

SYLVIA PROFITT: R.I.P.

We're very sad to announce the death of Sylvia Profitt, who was such a great supporter of the Heritage Group.
Sylvia was one of the founding members of our committee, and served as Secretary for many years. She will be sadly missed. Our chair, Ann Foat said: "All those who knew her will have appreciated her loyalty and willingness to help in so many ways."
A thanksgiving service for Sylvia's life will be held in St Nicholas Church, Ash, on Wednesday, June 14, starting at 12.30pm.

URGENT: QUIZ TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED!!
